I found out about this organization 10 years ago when I started home schooling my children in California. I then had a frugal friend remind me of this terrific organization. (Thanks so much, Rob!) The Home School Legal Defense Association is a nonprofit advocacy organization established to defend and advance the constitutional right of parents to direct the education of their children and to protect family freedoms. Through annual memberships, HSLDA is tens of thousands of families united in service together, providing a strong voice when and where needed. 

When I stopped by their web site last night I was pleasantly surprised to find that they have now moved into the international arena of home schooling and have several ways you can donate to various sections of their mission statement. For those of you who home school in various states they give you a resource to look up local chapters. Here is the national web site.
