As an impoverished teenager living in rural Missouri, I launched several successful businesses before putting myself through the University of Missouri biochemistry program.
I've worked for ten years in academic and industrial research laboratories as an analytical biochemist before spending the next ten years raising a brood of four active spawn. In 2005 I returned to college and completed my M.A. in Education! Hooray! and started another entrepreneurial venture (SmartCents Inc., a firm dedicated to teaching fundamental principles of wealth accumulation and financial independence), and have written four books on the topic. I am currently getting a PhD. In Constitutional Law.
I have coached hundreds of families from debt to financial stability using a system that I originally created for my own use. I have spoken on radio shows, talk shows and at conventions and seminars spreading the message of debt-free living. I am not an accountant, financial planner or broker. I have no formal training in money.
What I am is a scientist and mom who researched the basic principles to wealth accumulation and through implementation of the 60/40 principle, my supportive husband and I moved from living paycheck-to-paycheck to being financially independent. We currently reside in Colorado and home school our four children.
